Conceptual PlayLab launches research into play-based STEM education

At the Conceptual PlayLab, we have quickly gotten into gear in the first month following launch.

Making a Splash

Our 1st month in the Conceptual PlayLab has been eventful with plenty of media attention including interviews with News CorpThe Early Education Show3AWABC Radio National Life MattersThe SectorCareforKids and Playgroup Victoria.

Our launch event was watched from locations around the world. There is a lot of interests in developing a model of STEM education for infants, toddlers and preschoolers that improves cognitive outcomes and preserving play at the same time. You can view Marilyn's lecture here

Inaugural PhD day

PhD day is a Conceptual PlayLab monthly event where members of the PlayLab get together to review the progress of our individual and collective research, discuss readings and theoretical concepts to reinforce our understandings, and share stories, experiences and food. We also welcome visitors to establish new partnerships and collaborations. This month, we held our first PhD day in April, and had the pleasure of hosting Playgroup Victoria, our research partner Dr. Jonathan Li (Monash Faculty of Engineering), and staff from the Faculty of Education.

Partnership with Windermere Early Learning

We're super excited to be working with the team at Windermere Early Learning Centre & Kindergarten in Frankston showcasing a whole centre approach to planning and implementing a Conceptual PlayWorld for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The same story across the centre will support transitioning of children into the centre.
